LG Electronics Inc. years ago adopted the backronym slogan “Life’s Good” and I’ve actually been a fan of it. It’s a simple slogan and it’s memorable. Everytime I see their commercial with their smiley face logo, that slogan pops into my mind. It really sticks to me.
Life is good.
It’s a hard concept to grasp at times. After all, there is a bunch of things that happen in life that aren’t good. Job losses, broken relationships, car accidents, bills to pay and food to buy. There are so many other things that happen that make you think that life isn’t good. We worry and we stress out about it. Can we not have these bad things happen to us?
Jesus reminded us about these tough times and told us about the good things in life.
Matthew 6:25-33 (NIV)
25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
Things get bad when you don’t have the essentials in life. Or even if you do, there are other bumps in the road that come up. But Jesus tells us that God will provide for us. If the birds can fly without worry and the grass can grow without worry, then we can live life that way knowing God provides.
It’s hard to really put our trust in God. As much as we would like to, our own perception intercepts and we think that we have to have it all on our own. It’s happened to me many times where I try to be in control of every situation, good or bad, and the results sometimes make it worse. I feel that I have to be in charge of it all.
It’s not true. God continually provides for us. And if we take a step back and look at all that He has done in our lives, we know that the struggles we go through are small in comparison to all the joys He’s given us. All the tough times aren’t really that tough after all. Look at how good we really got it.
So don’t walk around worrying about the little things. Sometimes, you just have to let God provide and count your infinite blessings. Seek Him first and you will be blessed. And when you remember to put God first during the bad times, then you will realize that Life’s Good.
Because God is Good.
